Baptism: We will be delighted to baptise children/babies of any one who lives in one of our parishes. In order to arrange this please contact Stephen the Vicar, who will send you an application form and discuss dates.
If you would like to be married at one of our churches in the parishes or you would like to have your banns called, please contact Stephen our Vicar and he will be happy to explain or discuss possible legal requirements etc.
Children are most welcome at the 9.30am Family Communion Services. If parents wish, however, under 5s can go to a crèche in the Parish Room where there are toilets and hot water facilities.
Open the Book is a nationwide scheme to present Bible stories from both the Old and New Testament in ways that are lively engaging and informative. Each dramatised session is about 10 minutes long and is part of the collective worship in schools.
We have two ecumenical teams which present ‘Open the Book’ in Horsley school on Tuesdays and in Nailsworth school on Fridays. Some of us belong to both teams and some concentrate their efforts on one school.
Our aim is to enable every child in our schools to hear the story of the Bible in their primary years, thus opening their eyes, hearts and minds to discover all the wonder and wisdom that the Bible can offer.
The bonus is we love doing it and, best of all, the children really enjoy it!

VISITING AND BEFRIENDING SCHEME
At St George’s we recognise that ‘church’ is not just a building but is the people within it joining together to worship God. We aim to provide support to our church throughout the week, not just on Sundays, through our befriending scheme.
Each member of the church has a befriender, of which at present there are fifteen. They keep in touch in several ways i.e., a visit or telephone call, meeting up in church or out for a cup of tea/coffee. If the member is ill, may be shopping or a lift to the doctors or hospital and home communion can be arranged.
The befrienders themselves meet monthly in the Parish room on the second Wednesday of each month at 7.30pm for a short time, to make sure that individuals are not missed and to discuss any needs that have arisen. This is all done in the strict confidence within the group.
Meets second Wednesday of the month at 7.30pm

7.00pm Fridays in Parish Room
Our regular prayer group meets on Mondays at 9.00am in Lady Chapel or the Parish Room to pray for individuals and the wider community.
If you would like us to pray for you, or someone you know, we have a prayer board just inside the church on the left where you can leave your request, anonymously if you prefer.

The Church Flower Arrangers invite you to join our Group either to arrange one of the two pedestals approximately four times a year or a Festival Window (i.e. at Easter, Pentecost, Harvest and Christmas). Come and visit St George’s especially at a Festival time to see how beautiful it looks.

The Parish Room with it’s ramped access offers accommodation for groups of all sizes and it is possible to have a partition closed making the room even more friendly for smaller groups. The well equipped kitchen makes the room an attractive venue for a family ‘get together’. An added attraction is the exclusive use of the car park.
For enquiries ring Mrs Rosemary Davis 01453 833966 or email rosemarydavis38 @ yahoo . com and she will discuss fees and issue booking forms.
